The Whiteley has been beatuifully restored by Foster + Partners, retaining the façade of the landmark Grade II listed shopping centre and transforming it in to a vibrant mixed-use development, incorporating retail, restaurants, hotel and residential.
Buzon UK were contracted to supply and install the 132 heritage balconies featured on the façade, and 69 bolt-on balconies that face in to the inner courtyard, as well as over 4,700 square metres of terraces.
The balconies required a non-combustible solution and with such a small void, the Class A fire-rated REIF system was perfect for supporting the 20mm external porcelain.
Significant savings were made on the terraces with a certified BROOF(t4) solution using the PB range of polypropylene pedestals with ALUrail. The certification covered the full build-up that consisted of Radmat waterproofing, ballast and 20mm porcelain from Domus as well as the Buzon components.
This was a job that demanded the highest of standards and detail, and the team from Buzon UK have once again delivered.
