Transport House is one of the latest developments by Hollybrook, addressing the requirement for social housing in the area. Existing infrastructure is at its limit so Modern Methods of Construction were at the heart of the planning process, with water attenuation and electricity efficiency central to the application, involving green and blue roofs, solar panels and heat pumps. As a result, the site exceeds all sustainable London Plan requirements/ targets by 15%.
Central to the development is the 1500 m2 podium, surrounded on three sides by apartments and with a car park below; it provides welcome recreation space for the residents, with seating, planting and children’s play areas.
The podium consists of a Bauder Bakor Hot Melt System with areas of blue roof technology and multiple surface finishes including 50mm paving, planting and artificial grass by Everroof. Buzon PB pedestals were used to support the pavers and grass system, along with U-PH5 slope correctors to level out falls, and U-WALLs to secure edging. The resultant roof build ups were compliant with BROOF(t4), the necessary fire-rating classification for podiums.
