The first non-combustible paving and decking pedestal from Buzon. Made from recycled aluminium and zinc-coated steel, the A-PED is Class A1 fire-rated and adjustable from 24mm to 395mm.
As the most advanced Class A1 fire-rated pedestal available on the market, it has an integrated slope corrector which allows up to 5% of millimetre-precise correction - features that make it compatible with both paving, decking and grating - and a large load spreader plate base that won’t compromise insulation or waterproof membrane. The ideal pedestal system for paving slabs, tiles and other natural surface finishes.
The A-PED range has a full suite of accessories to ensure that every requirement is catered for; from a choice of spacer tab widths to edging products, and Class B fire-rated shims and membrane protection.
Spacer Tabs separate pavers maintaining perfect alignment and facilitating drainage. The A-PED has a 3mm spacer tab ring which fits on the pedestal head, which can be extended to 5mm using caps that fit over the existing spacer tabs. Spacer tabs can be removed as required.
Shim options are available for the head of the A-PED pedestal and can be used to aid stability, deaden sound, or to add height either uniformly or to compensate for variations in paver thickness. Made of EPDM and Class B-rated, they are designed so that the shim is completely obscured by the paver.
Whether correcting existing groundworks, levelling tapered roofs or creating ramps, the A-PED range comes with in-built slope correction of up to 5% in the base of the pedestal. An optional locking key is available to secure the position for use in high traffic environments. Use the Bubble Level to determine the amount of slope correction required.
This EPDM Class B fire-rated acoustic pad sits perfectly under the pedestal to help deaden sound, whilst providing that little extra protection in more demanding environments. For our smallest pedestals, we also offer a 170mm aluminium spreader plate for use on membranes and insulation.
Our U-WALL-M and ALUgrate products allow clean finishes against walls, doors and windows, and provide excellent drainage options.
The shape of the A-PED joist means that it can be securely screwed to the pedestal head. Deck boards can be attached to the joist using clips or screws, or a compatible spacer tab can used if the joists are to form a rail-based system for supporting tiles.

For tile formats larger than 60mm and / or pedestal heights greater than 100mm, additional supporting pedestals per tile may be required. Mesh backing on tiles may also be advisable in these circumstances.
